Spanish has three levels of “this/that” by distance: este (here), ese (there), aquel (over there).
| este libro | this book (near me) |
| esa casa | that house (near you) |
| aquellos coches | those cars (far away) |
They agree in gender and number: este/esta/estos/estas, ese/esa/esos/esas, aquel/aquella/aquellos/aquellas.
