B2 Relative pronouns (que, quien, cuyo)

advertisement

Relative pronouns connect two ideas about the same noun. Que is by far the most common (for people and things).

El chico que vino es mi primo. The boy who came is my cousin.
La casa que compré es grande. The house that I bought is big.
La mujer con quien hablé…The woman with whom I spoke…
El autor cuyo libro leí…The author whose book I read…

Use quien(es) after a preposition for people; cuyo/a/os/as means “whose” and agrees with the thing possessed, not the owner.
